Struggling with Coding Confidence After Transitioning from Support Role to Python Development

I have a total of 9 years of work experience, with 7 years as a support engineer. Last year, after learning Azure, I joined TCS and started working with Python. As the sole resource on these projects, I find myself heavily relying on ChatGPT to write code. Some of the code turns out okay, but other times it’s not up to the mark.

This heavy dependence on AI assistance has taken a toll on my mental health. I feel like I’m not competent at my job and can’t write code independently without help.

Has anyone else experienced this? What steps can I take to improve my coding skills and rebuild my confidence?

To write code or tweak code, you need to know your basics well. Python is the best code for a beginner to learn since it language is easy to understand but you need to know the basics of DSA and basic of programming to survive. Start by these courses and do your own mini projects during your time off and weekends. You will get there. No human intelligence in below artificial intelligence.

I have been in your shoes when I had to write XML codes with no experience. Very few would have skills to write code without any dependency. Back then it was stakoverflow and now it's chatgpt. There's nothing wrong in it. You are in right position to learn, the opportunity positively.
