Struggling to Find the Right Startup Idea – Need Insights!

Every day, I feel the urge to build something worthy—a product that isn’t just a side project or a time-pass experiment but something that truly impacts people. I want to step back one day and say, Yes, I created something valuable that made a difference.

The problem? I keep bouncing between ideas. Sometimes, I think about an HRMS, sometimes a job portal, but these are just examples. I think of many ideas, but I’m not sure if they are truly worthy. The real question is: What should I build? I don’t want to chase trends or create something just because it sounds cool—I want to build something that solves a real problem and stands the test of time.

I know the market is changing rapidly—AI is reshaping everything, and new technologies emerge every day. But beyond all that, I want to prove something to myself. I call myself a developer, but am I really one if I haven’t built something meaningful? Or am I just someone who says they are a dev but hasn’t truly created anything impactful?

For those of you who have built successful or meaningful products, how did you find the right idea? How do you decide what’s worth pursuing? What are you working on or dreaming of building?

Would love to hear your thoughts, experiences, and even the ideas you believe are worth building!

Look around you. Identify a problem that you can relate with and probably face also.

Check if other people also face this problem, as in is it ubiquitous or unique to you/small population?

Try and visualise how it can be solved via tech enabled intervention.

Then think will people pay for this solution?

If you have reached this stage, then you have your idea.

PS: Use a pen and paper/notebook for this excercise. If you can't pen down your thoughts and ideas then most probably they are worthless.
