Startup experience

Worked here for 3 months – sharing my experience

I joined GetSetYo thinking it’ll be a good startup experience, but here are a few things you should know before joining:

There's no WFH option at all.

If you come even 10 minutes after 9:30 AM, they mark it as a half day. If you don’t have leave balance, they cut half-day salary.

You can’t step out for tea or coffee. If you leave your desk for even 10 minutes, someone will call and ask you to sit back in the hall.

The company is low on funding, so the pressure is high. They think making people work harder will somehow solve it, but honestly, the core idea hasn't worked for years.

The founder doesn’t really know tech or product. Most of the time, he sits in the cabin watching YouTube videos or reading news about travel startups abroad.

There’s a joining clause – if you leave within 6 months, you need to pay 1 month’s salary.

You’re expected to be available even on holidays, and yes, the founder can call at 11 PM asking why your task isn't done yet.

If you’re joining the finance team, just know that you’ll also be handling HR, admin, and almost everything else.

They recently came up with a new farewell policy – they’ll only give you a farewell if you complete at least 1 year, because apparently most people leave before that.

Lastly, there are trust issues from the top, because of some old incident with their Mumbai team. Unfortunately, every new joiner ends up facing the result of that.

Overall, it was a tough experience. Learned a few things, but it definitely takes a toll. If you're planning to join, just be mentally prepared—it's not the easiest place to survive.

very bad... Low on funding, so pressure is high is the worst reason to give.

These kind of startups reinforce my belief, that only the jobless have to join a start up. Any person quitting an established company for a startup is mentally retarded.

Lol. Dude! Giving you 10 cents. If you want to come out of slavery, start up and earning an equity is the only way. No one gets rich by salary.
So if you want to call people retarded who wants to take risk to come out of the loop, then let's be it.

I thought early stage startups will teach me more however they laid me off informing they have funding issues. There you go my so called enthusiasm to work at startup. Anyways things happen for a reason.
