Sr Engineers/Tech Leads - How long do you prepare for switch?

Hi, It's been 5 years since my last job hunt. I'm planning to switch sometime this year. What are the realistic prep timelines? I have 13+ YoE.

I was in similar situation. Kept giving interviews even without preparation. Gave for 1 year and was finally able to crack it after many rejections.

This is THE way. You can NEVER be "fully prepared".

6 months to 1 year. prepare hard for the first 6/8 months, and then prepare + start giving interviews, giving interviews is also a way of preparation
