Spiritual Guidance from Indian Mythology
Without sounding too cringy: Growing up I’ve been a bit ignorant about our culture and mythology and its teachings. I was a believer in atheism and nihilism and stuff but as I’ve grown up now, I’ve realised I am not as strong and all-knowing I’ve thought of myself against realities of life. I now seek some spiritual guidance to build a philosophy behind my life. Build some principles to guide my life ( not just restricted to professional life)
I’ve been kinda inclined towards Maharabharat (read few stories here and there) but since I’ve missed the entire part of adopting a religion and brining god into our lives at an early stage, I’m finding it very difficult to incorporate this in my adult life.
I really wanna make up for what I’ve lost in terms of spiritual guidance and teachings.
- can anyone else relate to the same?
- How do I proceed from here?
I’m not looking for any superficial means, but really want this to be ingrained in my lifestyle 🙏🏼

Stay away from religious organisations until you are very sure. Take time, read, and decide yourself.

I can relate to many. Don't be a Arjun in this Kalyug. A person doubting himself due to the people around him is very common and most of us are not fortunate enough to have someone like Krishna to guide him. A person like Arjun will be easily crushed in this world.
Don't be like Karn either. A talented person who fall pray to bad companies. A bad person will always support a talented person to fulfill his own dirty desire and will cloud the judgement of the good person which ultimately leads his destruction.
I will rather be a manipulator like Shakuni in this Kalug

First ask yourself. Do you believe in religion or believe in god.
IMO humans created God to have something to look up to. And religion is a set of practises a bunch of our tribes believe to be a way to lead a good life.
I'd suggest reading everything. Cherry picking the good stuff that you believe in. And maintain your privately held values that help you find peace.

Makes sense. But what do I read, what’s a good starting point?

I am atheist but even I kinda realise that how for some people ,religion is kind of a way to exist . I would just say don’t become a hardcore conservatives in your beliefs 😅

Also from the other comment pls don’t get into religious organisations better to stay away from hive mind. Religion is your personal matter don’t let anyone dictate how you want to live your life

I agree. I’m looking for a 1-1 relation with god for guidance. No plans to become a fanatic

It boils down to 3 things
- Jaisi karni vaise bharni, karmo ka fal milta hai
- Dene vaala deta bhi chapadd faad ke hai, aur cheenta bhi chapadd faad ke hai

Ditto! However, I don’t want to be too religious but adapt and make more spiritual lifestyle changes and move towards a spiritual journey. This has suddenly started in the last 2 years. And honestly yes, Beerbiceps did open up or give some direction towards the right people who speak about spiritual journeys and connecting to more dots from there helped. Would be honest in this.
