Sort thus out for me
I live in a 3-story building. There are 4 houses, i.e., GF, FF, SF, and TF. There is a meter for common electricity usage. For water pump and lights in stairways.
The owner has linked his aadhar card to this common meter in the Gruha Jyoti scheme. Now the total bill is 614 rs. After applying the scheme, the remaining amount to be paid is 63. The 551 rs that was waived off is actually due to scheme, and no one paid for it.
I have divided the 63 rs among 11 people who are living and using this common meter, and I have shared the particulars. Now, the owner asks me to divide the whole 614 rs among us and pay him the amount instead.
I find this totally unfair because the due was 63rs, which actually went towards the payment, not the 551rs. No one paid for it. Just because he linked his aadhar card to the meter, he is expecting us to give him that amount.
How fair is that? What are your thoughts?

💀

Sacrifice a pizza for peace, what if the owner gets annoyed and kicks you out. Life is unfair, World is unfair, People are bad, maybe your landlord has some personal agenda.

I agree with you. Even I am not interested in arguing on this. I will talk to him and try to explain. If he doesn't agree, I will pay him the money.

Try to negotiate a bit but look for a new accomodation on the side

Thank you. Will do!

Ideally he can charge you whatever. He linked his Aadhar and got the subsidy for his house. In principle, it is upto him whether to extend you the subsidy or not.
Similar example, you travel with your wife, gf, mother in a bus which is free for women. Would you ask them to pay for your share? Govt is subsidizing them, they need not extend that subsidy to you

Makes sense

Don't miss the wood for the trees.
Let the landlord have his extra ₹500. Troll him off and on for being so fantastic at managing his money, the best that you have seen, doesn't let go of a single rupee.
He gets his money and you get to let off steam on it from time to time.

I agree. Thanks for your suggestions.
