Sony WH-1000XM5 review?

I'm considering to buy these headphones. Does anyone have any strong opinions about getting them or even not getting them?

I'm currently using jbl tune something(don't remember the exact version). They're still pretty good but the padding has worn out. So time for a change.

Also, what is the cheapest price you've seen?

I own XM4 and they're good. Major nuisance is when two devices are connected simultaneously, audio often doesn't seemlessly switch as advertised. Moreover even after disabling multi device connectivity via app, it sometimes still connects to both . Otherwise connectivity and battery life are good. Audio quality is also pretty decent and so is active noise cancellation. But I've come to believe that no portable ANC headphones can ever fully satisfy me in terms of noise cancellation since none of them manage to create pin drop silence like they portrayed in Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry cartoons. . Impressed by my XM4s, my manager bought XM5 during Prime Day sale in June 2023 for 18k (and my XM4 bought in March 2023 also costed the same) and sometimes he tries to tease me. But I've never tried his XM5s

Mic performance is erratic too. Sometimes it goes fine but more often than not the other party requests me to switch over to phone . Here again I'm yet to discover a pair of wireless headsets with excellent mic performance. Even my AirPods Pro (1st gen) are okayish only, though considerably more reliable than XM4s.

I have XM3s still going strong. These are excellent.

Not sure about XM5 but I bought XM4 in early 2022 and wouldn't recommend it. Though sound quality was the best at this range (₹25k), but battery died out within 14 months, and after that even with full recharge it worked only for 10-15 minutes. Several folks have faced similar issue, you can check out YouTube reviews as well.

Oh wow, thanks for this I actually hadn't heard of this issue before

Got them during the Diwali sale for around 22k. Love the experience. It was a big step up from my 4k realme neck band. I use them in the office connected to both the office laptop and my phone at the same time. Seamless switching between the two. No complaints from anyone during meetings. Noise cancellation is great.

The only issue from my research was that XM5 are not as portable as the XM4. XM4 were foldable and easier to carry. You might also read many reviews of their stem breaking but i assume they are from improper handling. I always carry them in the case.

I have WH-100XM5 the best thing about it is the ANC it's very light weight compared to xm4. I wear them for more than 5,6 hrs at a time. I have seen 23 -25k.

XM-4 is better if you're just looking at value for money. XM-5 has more features and slightly better on fundamentals but not very easy to use since you can't fold it. I've had an Xm-4 for 3 years and it's one of the best tech buys I have ever made.

I bought XM4 when they were first released for around 20-25k . Been using them for years and they're still amazing.

Absolutely love them, probably one of my best purchases till date

Everyone's talking about the "audiophile experience" but nothing that's listed in the above comes is actually it. There are no Bluetooth headphones that will match the quality of a wired IEM (In ear Monitor). Google IEM ( in ear monitor) and buy a DAC ( Digital to Analog Convert). Entry level IEM + DAC should cost you less than 4K. . I used to buy headset/headphone in the past and nothing blew my mind like an IEM + DAC combo. The most basic IEM + DAC is at least 10 times better than any Bluetooth headset.
