Some things are just overhyped!
In the past year I've come across 50+ posts that talk about Rameshwaram Cafe and in some way the post tries to decode their "massive" success. Personally, I tried it once and might not ever, again. I feel the place is overhyped and there are far better ones (I prefer UDP - Umesh Dosa Point any day over Rameshwaram)
I feel it's just such "made up" hype and the crowd that gets the crowd to the cafe. I haven't heard anyone in my circle praise it, all they say is that they went to Rameshwaram only because they saw/heard about the "greatness"
Do you think Rameshwaram Cafe is overhyped?
P.S. Let's fight over in the comments :P

Idk why it gets hate for no reason, yeah its costly but it actually offers tasty food, not the world’s best, but good enough to get people on it. Its not under appreciated but not overhyped.

It is not tasty at all. The coffee was mid af and the quantity was so less. If you have grown up eating good south indian food, you will definitely not like rameshwaram cafe.
Probably also the reason why north indians like it more than south indians

No @KarmaPolice hate is zero towards Rameshwaram. The hate is towards the "hype" and the fakefluencers trying to get visibility by posting about the "hype"
And pretty sure Rameshwaram Cafe didn't ask for the hype, so definitely no hate towards them.

Rameswaram Cafe is ❤️
Is it because they serve something out of the world?
Nope.
It's because their quality is above average and irrespective of the time you go there, they maintain the consistency across all their outlets.
Consistency constantly is what ultimately matters in food business.

I still think the taste is of the ghee they shower on their dishes. And ghee is ghee, it's taste is consistent. So the taste/quality consistency comes from ghee :P

Try their plain thatte idli, parotta, ragi roti, akki roti, sakkara pongal (Sunday only).
Little to no ghee, consistency always.

Udupi restaurants and taaza tindi taste way better than that

I go to Rameshwaram because it is clean, quick, and fairly tasty. There's not much differential value that you can provide in a dose, or sambar. Plus, for a non-south Indian tastebuds, it's quite difficult to differentiate what's the best idli-dose-wada-sambar

Problem with calling anything overhyped is there is no way to measure it. Assuming
popularity > value
if considered overhyped, how do you measure either?? Example how much the crowd at a restaurant has to reduce to be considered "aptly-Hyped"?Until we decide that it's just opinion, and it's over or under hyped depending on personal taste

If you like sweet sambar and tons of ghee in everything yes. Yet to see a south indian saying good things about them. I’m wondering how they achieved this much good PR despite having average food and a fairly expensive menu.

Try Indian Coffee House, HSR Layout ✨

Cleanliness and hygiene in this country come at a price.
Their Gongura Rice is pretty dope in all honesty

It’s too costly but it’s good place to have food
