Soldier Injured in Poonch Landmine Blast

  • A soldier named Deepak Kumar was injured in a mine blast during routine patrol along the LoC in Poonch district.
  • The incident occurred in the Nangi Takeri area and the soldier was air-lifted to Command hospital in Udhampur for treatment.
  • This is the fourth such incident since January 14, with previous blasts injuring soldiers in the Nowshera and Krishna Ghati sectors.
  • Landmines in forward areas, part of an anti-infiltration system, sometimes get washed away by rains, leading to accidents.
  • In a separate incident, a rusted mortar shell was found and safely defused in Fazalabad village of Surankote area.
