Software Interview and HR (worst people on planet Earth)
Omg! Hell amoount of period to be in the software development industry.
First of all this interview period Oct-Dec sucks almost 2 months with only two to three companies entirely getting call for.
Second AI proctoring on online assesments camera microphone no tabs not even copy their own driver code. It is like 360 degree camera. Some assesments are LLD based give their own repo write TDD. Unpredictability to the core.
Company interview problems tries DP whatever they think for.
Even after we put so much effort to clear, interviews are getting hard as fuck. For 7 years they experience flawless system design distributed task schedule payment risk detection every end to end. Now cleared that too.
Then comes coding and that too only in Java I mean what the hell graph problem. Explained psuedo code wrote logic then want full executable code and another three questions all expected to be solved flawleslly in 1 hour.
After all this serious level shit whomsoever they select is again going to use AI tool and fill the code.
HR omg! They have a pattern nowdays ghosting blocking calls. Before interview they care you like their own baby if you get selected in one two rounds they will be even more happy. Ultra stupid informaton they will give no DSA only design round but instead DSA hard level will be asked. They care as with sweet words we need you. We need you at all cost. After we fail to meet their standards, they cut your calls, never respond, companies dont update failure in their portal and you will be ghosted back to square 1 again.
I cant vent out enough frustration where is hiring even going to be with all this layoff next year. 4 months my friend got laid off talented coder with good balance of design and DSA still unable to land a job. I have started 1 month back already doing rage quit.
Peace!
One interview, 1000+ job opportunities
Take a 10-min AI interview to qualify for numerous real jobs auto-matched to your profile 🔑The experience is largely driven by a demand supply equation of the job market.
Currently, the global economy is slow due to the Trump tariffs and multiple wars, so there are a lot of layoffs, and there is a glut of software developers in the job market.
Every job position gets hundreds of resumes, so it's a buyer's market, making companies become more picky about selecting the best talent from the huge pool. So interview difficultly goes up, and bandwidth of HR to give personal attention to hundreds of candidates goes down, leading to the current situation you described.
At other times, during economic boom periods, there are lots of companies hiring and trying to grow, so the number of available positions in the job market is high, and the number of unemployed candidates in the pool are low, so it becomes a seller's market. Due to fewer applicants per position, companies have to compromise and make the interviews easier, to try to fill the position, and HR has greater bandwidth to give personal and more cordial attention to each candidate.
And the global economic climate is cyclical, so there will be 5-10 years of downturn, followed by 5-10 years of boom, alternately over and over again.
So what you described in your post, is basically the jobseeker experience during economic downturns 😅
