In 1-2 years, you will begin to see poor placement in CS department across the country.... Barring top 200-300 toppers from old IITS, Pilani & few NITS.

In 3-4 years, most of people in India having very high salaries will lose jobs if they refuse to take pay cuts. There is nothing that will be able to justify their high salaries .

In 5 years, I don't see any work from home type highly paid jobs which won't be replaced by AI. And I am serious about it.

So what are your suggestions regarding switching to AI/ML or data engineering?

I guess entry level jobs will be taken over, which already is happening right now. It's really hard to predict what's gonna happen in 5 years given the rate at which AI is growing.

Future of software engineers

With AI, here’s what I see happening in the next 3-5 years:

  • Junior dev roles may shrink as automation increases.
  • Experienced engineers will always be in demand.
  • Upskilling in AI/ML is no longer optional—it’s necessary.

Should we try that hard to excel in programming

AI seems to be everywhere these days, and we rely heavily on AI tools for our work as well. With this trend, isn’t it likely that the demand for software engineers could decrease in the future? Should we focus on mastering these software...
