Social media is a headache(*)

Why do people care so much for social media followers, likes and shares. What they get from this ? Except virtual happiness which exists for few moments.

I heard people troll themselves for silly matters I don't know what they will get from all this.

Because the likes and followers make them feel superior. Some people didn’t achieve anything in their lives, so Insta provide them the validation that they are also doing something worthy. In reality, if you uninstall Instagram, snapchat you will realise that now you have so much time which earlier you were wasting by liking someone’s edited pics.
