Social interactions being difficult

So, a bit of a random story.. I was on a bus from my hometown to Office location and ended up sitting next to someone who works in the same company. We had a short chat and while leaving, I asked for her ID to connect later. I dropped her a simple “hey” on Teams, thinking it’d be nice to have someone from the same hometown. She saw my ping and never replied.. Ngl, felt bit awkward.. I genuinely wanted to make a connection to have some company. Guess sometimes even small gestures can be misunderstood. Thinking how unpredictable social interactions can be.
