Smart Strategies for Professional Growth

I believe this question might resonate with many of you, so I’m posting it here.

I’ve noticed that some people, with seemingly average intelligence and lesser experience (most of which they’ve spent in the same company (Walmart)) — have reached the level equivalent to Director. Meanwhile, others with similar experience are still at relatively lower positions.

Some might say it all comes down to multiple factors like luck, timing, skill set and opportunity.

But I’m more interested in understanding — given such situations, how can one make the right moves to progress effectively and avoid future regret or feeling left behind in the race ?

I have seen some Manager's promoted to Manager position just because they have spent more time in the company and they are born with a golden spoon, but when it comes to the leadership and management skills they left behind. I don't understand what skills the decision makers consider while promoting them?? Don't they think about the company's future and productivity? I feel very bad when I see the way they handle the team and work, I feel I can serve better than them as a Manager but I don't have luck.
