Sick of WFO rules

This is just my rant or really a concern which needs to be looked into.

So yeah little long story....

I went for walk in and during 2nd round of interview itself they told me that strict 3 days WFO and 2 days WFH.

I'm ok with it and went on. Got offer and joined.

After joining they said like Bgv will take a month then only i can get into odc or WFH access will be given so I'm just simply going to ofc. (No work just learning)

In between this my uncle died, i was in need of 1 week WFH and as still i don't have access to work asked my manager with same reason. She said it's not possible even though literally i don't have any work other than learning. So i took 1 week leave.

After this i regularly went to ofc 3 days and because of some client visit they asked to come to ofc all 5 days and i went. After BGV is done I got odc access but there is no desktop for me to work as all systems are full. Manager said like wait for 3 weeks will arrange. By that time she said adjust with someone (if they left for home then take their PC to work). I said ok.

The next month i had some stomach issues and I'm not able fix it in Bangalore itself so i came back to home town for having some home food for few days.

Now i know anyway they'll not give 1 week wfh. As I don't have allotted desktop in ofc, (PS: Laptops are not allowed inside odc. But with same laptop i can do WFH 😬)

So i asked like, mon - leave and tues, wed - WFH thur, Fri - WFO. I said If needed I'll compensate just 1 day in next week.

Even for above also she is not accepting and giving choices like either come 3 days or just take 5 days leave. If i didn’t come to ofc for 3 days then 2 days wfh also she can’t approve.

I don't know why there are rules like this or who makes this rules even in 2025. I'm saying I'll work 4 days but she is saying if not coming to ofc 3 days then take 5 days leave because of WFO rules. I'm not blaming completely on her but she says it's from client side. I don't know what's gonna happen if i didn't go to ofc for just 1 day in a week and do WFH.

In ofc also i just have only 1 teamate and rest all are onshore. Literally nothing in ofc except desktop and internet.

I know they said everything beforehand but atleast for some situations they can adjust right. I'm not making any reasons to get WFH or asking every week but just for some valid rare cases.

I adjusted in ofc for not providing desktop (till now) and taking bgv for a month. When it's something from corporate i need to adjust but if it's from my side they're not ready to adjust atleast for 1 time.

I accepted this and came here because i don't expect these situations to happen.

Literally had 2 rough months and today i got exhausted.

I think it's very toxic and need some opinion like whether something wrong from my side?

PS: 1 of my friend who is also a new joiner like me got 2 weeks WFH in same project but different Manager 🤐

IMO, it's always buyers beware. The company did honestly tell about their WFO/WFH rules.
The rangoli team usually does this sort of nonsense by hiding those BGV rules. But we can't do anything on that. I don't believe in asking favours from managers/company. They won't give any. Its easier to negotiate and barter than request things.

Only option is to quit and move on.

Is this toxic work culture or I am overthinking

For context: Weekends are off. So just fri WFH. This is a Series B startup. I am not even asking for a leave but WFH for just 1 day. I joined recently. The only thing I did wrong was possibly informing a little too late.

Want to get o...
