Should I switch? Big 4 Consulting Analyst (12 LPA) → Startup Senior Product Analyst (16 LPA). Please read the full post for context first.

Need some perspective on a career move.

Experience Level : 1 YEAR

Current role: Big 4, Consulting Analyst, 12 LPA (9 fixed + 1 variable + 2 JB, but will have to return JB since I haven’t completed 18 months).

Offer: Startup (currently 300+ employees), Senior Product Analyst, 16 LPA (all fixed, no ESOPs).

Context: I’ve always wanted to move into Product Management. At this startup, the next role in the ladder is APM.

Should I switch? Please vote and share your reasoning in the comments, it’ll help a lot. Thanks in advance.

If you want to get into Product management, you should definitely make the switch. You'd learn a lot in the start up. And honestly, money is good too.

Thanks for the input! Quick question, since i see you're in PM. This role is Senior Product Analyst (and not APM), how much overlap is there with actual PM responsibilities? Just want to be sure the transition to APM is realistic and not purely analytics-focused. Any insights would be helpful

There is a good deal of overalp. Understanding metrics is a big part of the job. Product analyst role would give you exposure of different metrics, why they are tracked, how they are tracked, etc. All this is relevant for PM role.
