Should I switch after 7 years with Capgemini Engineering? Need suggestions
Hi all, I started as a fresher through campus placement in an organisation which is now acquired/merged to Capgemini Engineering. I've been working here from the past 7 years and part of an offshore project from a US product based client from past 6 years as it is kind of a long term project. I've been a consistent top performer as well over the last 6 years. The project seems to do well and no issues so far.
My current CTC is 19.5LPA fixed for 7 YOE. I also have RSU's from CG which is vested till end of 4 years (alloted to me on Oct-2022)
I'm working in the Android domain in Embedded systems (Android AOSP/Middleware/HAL/multimedia).
Should I switch from my current role or continue ?

No, Capgemini's hike is not good.
As I said, my former organisation got acquired/merged to Capgemini group in 2021-22.
Hike in my previous organisation was pretty good like around 15-20% every year on average and for top performers it would be >30%. I even got around 96% hike in one year as I was retained by my former organisation in 2021.
Since I was a top performer every year, I've received pretty good hikes upto 2022. Post acquisition hike are only around 4-7% in Capgemini.

I do not see any reason to switch. Forget about the firm, tenure for a moment, yoe 7 cctc 19.5 close to 3x of your experience is pretty good.
Now let's talk about your firm, there is nothing wrong with sticking to a firm for long duration if hike and growth is good. Another advantage is you will be eligible for gratuity too and keeps on adding up.

Meanwhile BITS Pilani , iit delhi kids starting first job at 90 lacs with 0 exp. And service based guys are like oh 19lpa is enough for 7yoe. Service and produce based companies are a different world it seems.

Yes .. you are right.. People of my age or lesser experience in mid-size product based companies are in 25-30LPA payscale. Service based companies do not match this payscale.

Switch.
