Should I quit to work on my startup?

I have around 10 years of experience and I would say I have a decent enough CTC and savings.

Recently I started working on an idea called “OpinionHub” (www.opinionhub.io) which aims to solve decision making blunders of users through polling. You can check it at www.opinionhub.io/home

I need some advice whether the idea is worth it, or should I drop it and continue my job.

Here is the idea: Everyday people make decisions

  1. Which college to choose
  2. Which health insurance is better
  3. Which company is good for long term

But those decisions are based on biased opinion of 1-2 people from Quora or Instagram influencers etc. The goal of OpinionHub is to convert everything as poll and people vote. Because it’s polling hundreds or maybe even thousands of people will vote instead of 1-2 subjective answers.

This way people get crowd powered Opinion and make better decisions by learning from experience of others…

What do you think? Worth pursuing or flop?

Don't quit job. If your startup fails, you won't get jobs later on.

Speaking from experience as a founder, it becomes impossible to get hired after running a startup. If your startup fails for whatever reason, you can't go back to jobs. Companies just reject your resume straight up. Founder experience doesn't matter to them, India sucks for entrepreneurs.

But then what’s the way to take it forward? Wait till I can secure some funding?

How do you plan to monetize it?

  1. Freemimum model where most of the features are free while advanced analytics of the poll like demographics, gender, pay scale will be paid

  2. Poll boosting: if you really need a lot of votes or advice you can pay and boost your poll to appear in more feeds

  3. B2B model: companies can pay a certain amount in exchange of getting an AI generated report of what their customers are talking about, pain points , happiness index etc

Its not true that you wont get a job if your startup fails. I have been a founder for 10 years till last year. I had to shut down due to financial issues and get a job. It was a little difficult at first but i got a decent job.

I had only 1.5 yoe in job before that.

You have 10 yoe in a job and then trying for a startup. Your experience in companies is not useless.

Moreover many companies hire people who are capable of leading and building products from 0 to 1.

But its true that once you start your own startup it becomes difficult for you to work as an employee.
