Should I quit my job?

I'm a 30 year old male working as a senior software engineer.

Since the age of 24, I've felt a strong urge to master a specific field. My mind often tells me to quit my job and start something fresh and exciting from scratch. Is this normal?

I have no real interest in IT. I'm just working for the money. If I can financially manage for 2 or 3 years, should I listen to my heart and leave my job? These days, I'm interested in mathematics and music.

I'm currently working 10 hours a day and can't manage both in parallel. On weekends, I spend some time learning but it's not enough.

Please guide me.

If you don't have EMI or dependents, go for it. There won't be time later.

  1. Core or Applied Mathematics?
  2. If core mathematics, then enroll for courses in IITs, BITS or some universities
  3. You can start learning Machine Learning, Deep Learning (NPTEL from IITs) its full of mathematics, it will be challenging and interesting. When you get bored or exhausted you can listen to music.

Sure. Try it for 6 months. If you dont see any progress towards your goal, then you can always find another job. This is the age to do it, else you will eventually have too much responsibilities.

Don't quit until you're confident your new skills will get you a new job. You can do an online degree part time, and having spent some money will keep you motivated enough to spend time on it.
