Should I move to academia

I had always loved to teach. I love studying. I can sit for hours on end and get lost in reading a complex topic

Every time there had been stressful situation at work I have always thought of moving to academia to teach as a professor. The salary standards at Indian universities always stopped me

Recently, saw the UGC salary bands, and found they have improved. I will be earning less than what I am making today but feel like I will have more fulfilling life.

Can anyone comment on how life as a professor is like? I am more interested in teaching. Not into research papers etc

I also have just UG (from top private university). No master's . Will it be tough to join academia with just UG and 7 YOE in the industry

Yeah! Even to be considered as industry practitioner in colleges, the experience required is like ~20 yrs (need to check the latest numbers)

Why not go for a PHD while working, Btech guys can go for PHD directly in most cases. after phd, you can take up a teaching post in some good government college.

That is a path I can take. A little hesitant because I am more into teaching than research
