Should I give up on the SWE dream

A senior of mine working in Microsoft for 3yrs keeps asking me to prepare for govt jobs, because apparently job security has become a state of mind for software world. How 40s are the furthest we can go and after that, most likely no one would be interested in giving a job cuz

1. There are too many young people now who have subscribed to the CSE dream
2. They understand faster and are more updated Should I give govt job a try?(I personally wanna work remote for the rest of my life)
