Should Cricket teams be fined for slow play?
Why were England and New Zealand docked points and fined for their slow over rates?
England and New Zealand's cricket teams got into some trouble for not keeping up with the required over rates in their match. Basically, they were too slow in bowling their overs. Because of this, both teams got docked 3 points and were fined 15% of their match fees.
As someone who does not know much about cricket, why did this happen?
I think even Ind and Aus were also docked recently.
This happens because of greed. Better over rates ensure better advertising slots and game finishing on time ensures, the follow up shows to telecast in time. There might be other points as well but these are the ones that highly influence their decisions.

Wouldnt that mean that faster overs are bad?
