Should a software engineer transition to project manager.

I see my project friend switch companies with ease just by blabbering in interviews and that's all he gets multiple job offers. But software guys need to clear coding test, dsa, system design, development , tech stack expertise , multiple tech rounds and still no guarentee what they can ask and less chance of selection.
