Personal thoughts: Previous generations didn't speak up against their managers not because they didn't know how to , but because they had dependencies, they had to feed families, only jobs(specially corporate) was a easy mean to do some savings.

I feel money is much more accessible to individuals now, some have worked hard for it, some have got lucky, some have privileges, some come from financially backed families.

This is mostly possible because the previous generations put their head down and worked even after managers abused.

Also there is manager ego, irrespective of generation gap.
