Trending @Accenture; Shadow Hard lock and Release Guidance

I am shadow hardlocked just now and the AM who contacted me didn't specify the role but vaguely said that I will work on the IBM tool.

Yes, this is my first project. I heard that one might have to be 18 months in their first project, is it true? If I find any good project during this shadow period can I ask my manager to release me?

I am overthinking, like since it's an IBM tool, what's going to be my career path if I want to go to projects that need coding(I prefer these tho) at the same time if I want to shift in future (in 1 year), How should I do? Should I just fake it as I believe as there are not many companies that take in these kind of experience (IBM and etc tools) projects.

Hi, Usually they have hard lock means you are confirmed for a project and soft lock which means probable inclusion to a project. Not sure about shadow hard lock. Once you are in a project it's true that they would force onto you the 18 months clause. I assume you are a fresher, hence your bargaining power to move out of a project before joining is grim. What would be your reason to move out of project? Just i want to code is not sufficient as they might counter by saying in this project there is also development work. Also IBM has a few wonderful tools in the cybersecurity domain which has enough future scope as well. There are plenty of jobs which are tool based, but be sure which tool you are working on, a quick Google on the tool and in naukri with that tool name would give you a better idea.

Right now there is not much scope for you to say you don't want this project but After one year you can start voicing out your mind depending on how the learning experience is for you in this project.

Best of luck!

So I have received this email (shadow hard lock one) and it's like an in-between stage of softlock and hard lock. It was mentioned that I might be in this stage till 14/10/25 and they if they don't hard lock me before this time, I will be released automatically.

Okay, so you might be future hardlocked is what I understand, at this time you can search for other projects and mention your current state to the new manager Let the managers fight with this locking once you are selected for your desired project

Hey @Kamikaze, Just chill don’t be scared before doing the work. See for releasing it is not necessary that you have to work for 18 months, it means You cant ask for roll off by yourself before 18 months. . If your project needs you for 10 months then you will get release after that. After than that you can ask your manager or team lead in this project and try to convince them to put you into the role which aligns more towards your skillset and interest. If they have the role then thwy can definitely put you into that. And also, You can do some certifications related to dev or cloud or whichever you have interest in. And change your primary skill accordingly and send official email to yoir manager that you have done certifications in this so want to change my primary skill. Tag HR also. If nothing works, then simply put your efforts in the role and get the promotion soon so that you have ask for roll off as if project dont have budget to afford an analyst then they will roll off you from the project

My other query is, say I have learnt java full stack very well (or any tech stack for that matter), how can I learn to the point where I can get the knowledge equivalent to 1 year exp. Also can companies check what I did at Accenture? What project or role or tool I worked on?
