Service Engineer to Manager career shift
Hey everyone,
I’m currently a Service Engineer at a top-tier tech corporation, working in a customer-facing L3/L4 Product Support role with about 6 years of experience. While the pay and perks are great, I’ve started feeling like I’m not making a meaningful long-term impact.
I genuinely enjoy mentoring others, handling escalations, and driving solutions — so I believe I’m ready to start working towards a managerial role. I’d like to spend the next 1.5–2 years preparing for that transition through the right training, certifications, and skill-building.
For those of you who’ve already made the move from support/technical roles into management: • How did you make the transition? • Which courses or certifications helped you the most? • Any advice on how to position myself during interviews for a managerial role?
Would really appreciate any insights or resources you can share. 🙏
