Service Based >>> PBC
I always thought PBC >>> SBC , but seeing latest layoff happening in some of our dream companies feels it would be injustice to call these PBC as dream companies anymore .
SBC although pay less but at the end of the month you would get some in your hand. Until and unless you perform like shit and is on bench for multiple weeks you would be safe.
The dream of slogging through DSA & System Design to get into PBC doesn’t excite me anymore.
Again no hard feelings for anyone. Wish everyone a great career. But was thinking about this a lot after hearing oracle layoff news !!
Work ex and pay are significantly different. Its a matter of worry for sure but that experience stays with you and money too..
Im not supporting layoffs in anyway though.

That’s true. Experience stays always . We never get the numbers how soon these layoff affected folks get the job . And I believe they should be able to crack the job soon. But the immediate mental stress is unimaginable , especially for those who has the family to raise and EMI to be paid .

In COVID Deloittee people were laid off in huge numbers. After covid, even TCS did mass layoff. In what world are you living! 🤷‍♂️

I was in Deloitte at that time and majority of the folks where laid off because of either performance issue or relevant projects where not there. In TCS those folks who never took the pain to up-skill themself were affected. But it never happened where the company is doing good , revenue is increasing , there are ample amount of work , still SBC laid off . This is what I feel bad . Height of capitalism !!

Data engineers earn less and don't get laid off in PBCs as well

So true. I was in an SBC when mass layoffs trend started (2023) and I used to not have any worries about my job
Now I'm in a PBC and I get worried everytime I see a layoff news

Let’s hope things get settled and this AI slop slows down ! Uncertainty is really making me paranoid
