Senior level role with salary 40k ---5+yrs

Is it okay to take up any project where the requirement is of a specialist and a previous employee working on the same project was as a specialist designation too.

My concern is they are offering me everytime a higher level of work or project.

Like I had taken up the work for few projects, but was not appreciated, and my manager was not even comfortable taking up my name where theyr aree higher level catch up or meeting and only takes up those names where his likes / interest goes.
