I have the same policy my parents had with me. They fulfilled all my needs and wants and now vice versa. No fixed amount per month but anything they need they get. That’s sort of my motivation to earn more and more to give them back for all the sacrifices they made.

+1 on need basis. Even they wouldn’t know what to do with extra money other than save.

It’s so important for kids to be there for the parents. Kids who can’t do that have failed.

I’m curious, why are some people sending upto 75%? Genuine question..

If your parents are planning to get home. Well basically if you are trying to get home, but you want your parents to take care of money.

HighAltitude, bro why so salty? I was genuinely curious why 75% of monthly paycheque , I never said not to send to parents. Its your money give it to your parents or do whatever you want. I just wanted to know the reason behind it. PS. Since my salary was Rs.8800/- per month, I was sending 25% of my salary and today with 2L monthly also I’m doing the same. But I don’t see the investment value of the 25% I send home as it just stays in my mom’s savings account as I take care of all day to day expenses as well. Therefore wanted to check how parents are investing the money better.

My net worth is 2 lakhs I have been working for the past 4 years. All these years I had to support my family, hence couldn't save much(also I was not good at managing my money). Because my older brother was pursuing ms in med.(Education is truly a scam in this country, especially med schools). I had to at least give way 50%-70% of my salary.Sometimes more. I am glad I was able to support my family. Even to this day I am expected to give away atleast 30% of what I make ,still I am able to save. Till to this day I don't have a bike,PS5 or fancy clothes. Also I don't drink or smoke hence I save alot.i only spend 6-7k on swiggy that's it😂 I am pretty sure my parents will ask me for money to build their house, since how much I make and save.(May be 10L or more). I need to buck up and start making more money.

No such need to send money,

But the below 2 factors

  1. Mom saves most of the money sent to her and invest it somewhere.
  2. Sense of responsibility/achievement

In my case whatever money I give them comes back to me one way or another. Even gifts meant to be used regularly are kept as mementos 😆 I am helpless

Hats off to the lower to middle class upbringing amongst most of us...ours will be the last generation probably doing this...out next generation will have atleast uppermiddle class upbringing ..it will be difficult to expect same thing from our kids...

I am elder one I have to take care of my parents and brother who’s preparing for CAT so my 70% income goes there but its really a good feeling.. every middle class guy is Annu of gullak.

Yaar almost same here! Me providing for my family does feel good but it’s coming at a cost of me comprising on my lifestyle. So it’s a battle I fight with myself everyday. How did you make peace with it? Any thoughts?

This is hard to answer brother but grown man can compromise most of thing to make parents happy. I shared room to avoid expenses and no Swiggy zomato. I cook myself it’s healthy and clean and everything is calculated at first day of salary every single penny goes and rest of the amount I have to use for months and little investment that has low risk . Pro tip- don’t use credit very often
