Trending @Accenture; Self deprecating rant

We had a few bad production issues for a week, Indians as we were completely doing all nighters while people from other countries including clients didn't bother staying after 9 PM.

I suddenly felt very bad about the expectations of Indian Managers on Indians.

After working so far, we received not a single appreciation mail individually nor anything that signified our sacrifice for this.

While the developers from other countries didn't bother connecting in their nights and their managers stood up to support them on their stance, our higher ups worked us through without asking us to not login in the morning or asking us to rest.

We worked stressing our body with whatever disease which we will feel when I am older.

Indians I felt were taken for granted and we are only service providers. In the whole software market we are nowhere near becoming masters we only are low level workers. Even if tomorrow we decide not to work the whole software will search for other cheaper resources and move on.

India needs to become producers in this market before we can even think of wlb. The main reason we are having a lot of software jobs is because we are working so hard and stressing for wlb will take it away.

Aisa mat bolo Bhai. We are vishwaguru. World fears us that's the reason the western agenda for making our resources work tirelessly

They are doing a good job then, because we are so tired of work by the time we stop working it will already be very late at night and we don't bother innovating. Whatever time we have we relax and hate working on personal development.

Personally, if salary hourly is introduced i feel our half the problems will go away.

Have you tried raising it with your PL or the project management as soon as it started happening? I understand that the thing you stated might happen due to dependency and bandwidth issues of other resources and everything had to be done by you, but as long as no voice is raised, management starts taking advantage. And I've seen this firsdthand that us, Indians usually adjust ourselves and work without raising any objection.

The issue goes beyond managers. The issue is deep rooted in the leadership and perhaps project dl as well. Asking anything now or complaining about anything won't yield any benefit as i had already raised once about another issue and nothing came out of it.

With the way the market is fluctuating I didn't feel it's a good thing to raise now.

Client is God, and we are mere slaves!
Leadership is ready to pick boots as long as client clears their invoices. There is no sense of equality when it comes to client - vendor relationship. They require services, we are providing services.. it should be on equal footing.but nah, they are always treated as God.. And these days, it's just not the leadership, indians sitting on the client end are also aware of this and misuse this to extract more than what they agreed upon in the SOW and threaten to escalate whenever you say no!

The education system from the start teaches how to pull packages not products....

it really is sad that we know it's true and it's not changing...
the complete Indian resource pool is full of people either inherently submissive or brainwashed to be submissive to those clients and organisations that take us for granted..
we definitely should fight back and declare and defend our boundaries, no doubt. but the bright future seems so far.
ugh.
