Trending @Capgemini; Seeking Support for Relocation Closer to Hometown
At the time of joining Capgemini on 20th June 2024, I was assigned Pune as my base location. I completed my initial training in Pune. However, due to business requirements, I was relocated to Bhubaneswar on 30th September 2024 for project training. At that time, I was informed that the relocation was temporary and only for the duration of the training. I was also told that once the training was completed, I could return to Pune.
I completed my training on 22nd November 2024 and was assigned to a project on 1st December 2024, where I worked in a shadow role until 1st February 2025. From 3rd February 2025 onwards, I have been working as a billable resource.
In March 2025, I had a discussion with my manager regarding my personal situation. My father is handicapped, and my mother has been unwell for the past six months. I requested to be transferred to a location closer to my hometown, Ahmedabad. The distance from Bhubaneswar to Ahmedabad is approximately 2100 km, and there are no direct flights. Train travel takes around 40 hours, making it very difficult for me to manage personal responsibilities.
I requested to work from the Pune office, where my manager is also located. Some of my team members are based in Pune and Mumbai, so this arrangement would be beneficial for both myself and my manager. However, the portfolio manager refused my request and They said clearly that I must continue working from the Bhubaneswar office only, and if I wanted to move to Pune, they would release me from the project and I’d have to find another one on my own.
Seeking Your Support

I believe Personal responsibilities should be given responsibility. Move to pune, Get released from current project. You can get more opportunities in Pune when you move to bench discuss with RMG team that you are not flexible to move to any other location and provide the reason. Good luck
