Seeking Honest Advice on Transitioning from Marketing to PM
Hello everyone, I am a Marketing Executive with 2+ years of experience in market research and an MBA from a Tier-2 college. I'm exploring a transition into Product Management. Is this transition realistically possible and advisable? I’ve come across many positive views from edtech platforms selling courses, but I’m looking for honest, practical insights.
For those who’ve made a similar move or work in product management—what skills should I focus on, and are there certifications that could help? Does my market research background align well with this shift?
I’d love to hear your honest opinions and advice. Thanks in advance!

Plus point - You know how growth works. Just focus on GTMs and SaaS related metrics.
You can get into early startups growth PM. Try cutshort.io for this
You may have to compromise on Salary though, but you can get the opportunity.
Another way is to join as a Product Intern, then APM and then PM
Just a small tip: whatever you learn about PM may or may not happen in the company you're in. No one knows exactly what needs to be done, but once you get in, you will get jobs.

Thank You! The tip is something new I was unaware of, this will help. Much appreciated.

I also wanted to move from Marketing to Product but at most companies all product managers do is create product decks and articles, looked very boring to me.
