Seeking Guidance on Project Transition and Career Path Forward
I have been working with CTS for the past 4 years. For the first 3 years and 10 months, I was involved in a development role within the same project, utilizing skills in Java, Spring Boot, Oracle SQL, Microservices, JPA, JDBC, REST APIs, and Tortoise SVN.
However, last month, I transitioned to a new project that is completely different from my previous experience. This new role involves working with technologies like Go, GCP, YAML, and is focused on testing rather than development. Although I initially accepted the work-from-home (WFH) arrangement, I am now facing challenges, as the work and skill set required are quite different from my core expertise.
Given that the skills required for this project are not aligned with my previous experience and may impact my long-term career growth, I am uncertain whether to continue in this role or request a release and seek a project more aligned with my strengths. I'm also concerned about the difficulty in switching roles or projects in the future if I continue in this new capacity.
I would greatly appreciate any advice or insights from colleagues who have navigated a similar situation.
