Seeking for life changing advice

My Journey So Far:

Hi, I’m currently a BBA student in a distance education program at a tier-3 college (2022–2025). I’m reaching out for career advice as I navigate my path forward.

My story as of now:

In 2020, after finishing high school, I faced some tough financial situations, which meant I couldn’t afford to start a degree at same year but

In 2021, I enrolled in a UG program at a Deemed University, but once again, financial challenges forced me to drop out.

In 2022, I decided to continue my education through a distance learning program in arts at a tier-3 college from 2022 - 2025.

While studying, I worked as a carpenter during the day and in the evenings, I focused on building my career.

Between 2021 and 2023

I invested in my self-growth by learning backend development through free online resources.

I took courses on Django, REST APIs, Python, and MongoDB all for free. I'm also into Git and GitHub through YouTube tutorials, and I did all of this with zero investment.

It was all about dedication and utilizing what I could access online.

Work Experience:

Despite not having a degree, I grabbed a chance and joined a startup as a full-time US Technical Recruiter. I gained real-world experience, learned how to communicate with clients and candidates, and got a deeper understanding of the tech industry. After 10 months of experience I quit my job

However, my heart wasn’t in recruiting—I’ve always wanted to be a developer. But I felt like my background, with its education gap and the distance education degree, was holding me back from transitioning into the tech roles I truly wanted. Cause most of the companies seeking for BE, B Tech, or atleast science students with top management

As I worked in recruiting, I couldn’t help but notice the red flags in my own resume. My education gap and the fact that I’m in a distance learning Arts program made me question my chances of landing a tech role.

So, I agree with the truth and decide to move forward with open roads.

For the past six months, I’ve been focusing on learning new skills in Agile, Jira, Power BI, and I’m currently taking a Business Analyst course (via Microsoft and LinkedIn). I’ve applied for numerous junior BA and relevant roles, but the callbacks have been zero till now.

Instead, I’m still getting contacted for Recruiter and Sales positions.

Honestly, I’ve been feeling a bit hopeless, but something deep inside keeps me going. I know I don’t want to settle for another 10-15K job in a metro city, especially my income will be the only hope for my family .

But I also realize that my chances of getting hired by an MNC's are blocked already, considering the education gap, arts degree and my distance education background.

Where I Need Help

I’m at a crossroads. I know the road ahead won’t be easy, but I want to ask for advice on how to make the most of my situation. How can I overcome these challenges and grow in my career? What steps can I take to position myself better for the roles

Please let me know your thoughts in the comments...

If you are hell bent on building a carrer in Tech.

Then here is your roadmap

A) Finish CS50 Harvard University
B) Finish modules in Free Code Camp C) Specialization in upcoming areas (eg Cloud or Blockchain security)

Follow sequence -- A and B can be done simultaneously. C after A and B.

All stuff available for free on net.

Thank you so much for sharing a plan. I'll start with CS50 and FreeCodeCamp together, and specialize later as you suggested. Really grateful for your advice!

Thanks for your advice.

Ofcourse i can earn more as a carpenter but depending on which position in that field, if I have a manufacturing unit, contractors and engineers networking with a wooden workshop and portfolio means absolutely i can able to, but me as a day laborer it's not sustainable and scalable too.
