Seeking Career Advice in Transition to Data Science
Hello everyone,
I hold a Bachelor’s in Robotics and Automation, and my career goal is to become a Data Scientist. After joining TCS in November 2021, I initially worked as a manual tester for 18 months despite my fluency in Python. I later pursued certifications and became a Senior Data Engineer, where I worked for 6 months.
However, due to communication challenges, I haven’t been involved in projects for a few months. Recently, I received a call for a manual testing role, which doesn’t align with my goals. Any advice would be highly appreciated.

What have you learnt/did personally in data science? Have you done any small personal projects that you can use to tell rmg that you are capable?
Yes I can, i don't have any official certification however I have been learning since it was a part of my college curriculum.
I have a global rank near 1k in a Kaggle competition,
My first formal project was to make a COVID predictor back in college.
I have done an internship in Sparks Foundation on Data Science
However when I enquired about it to my RMG and Talent Acquisition they advised me to transition via being in a project and said it'll probably take 7-8 yrars
