Seeking advice on Oracle SRE offer (IC2 vs IC3)
Hi all, I interviewed for an Oracle Health SRE role (Python automation, OCI, Terraform/Ansible, DevOps, DB reliability). Based on my 5+ years in production support and automation (Shell, SQL, Python), I expected an IC3 offer, but they offered IC2, citing my Python depth is below "developer-level."
Comp: 25 L fixed, mostly remote, vs my current 19 L + bonus (2-3 lpa), Mumbai-based support role.
I want to pivot from support → SRE, but I'm unsure whether to accept IC2, negotiate for IC3 or higher comp, or focus on growth potential first.
I'm trying to evaluate:
Whether IC2 at Oracle (for this kind of role) aligns with typical mid-level SRE standards in the industry"
If it makes sense to negotiate for IC3 or a slightly higher comp, or just accept since it's a solid pivot into true SRE/DevOps"
How the growth trajectory looks like from IC2→ IC3 within Oracle
Would love insights from folks with SRE or Oracle experience on how IC2/IC3 maps to industry standards and career growth.
