Secret lay-offs

My company recently laid off folks. Had I been too I would have received 8-9 months of severance (all included).

I did wish this for the longest time ever, but then again you never know what kind of layoff you'll get. Will it be Microsoft with 3-4 months + every month for a year you worked or will it be Navi and they'll be like, chalo niklo salay liabilities, chal futt.

I was in a situation where I resigned (found new role) and current company had a round of layoffs with cool severance. I swear a part of me wished I had waited a week to resign. But then it is horribly immoral, there were families affected by it and I feel sick thinking like that
