Scope validation

I've done my projects and learnings on Full Stack Developement. My in first company I got work related to Data Engineering. What should I do? Should I ask my manager to put me in another team? or should I learn the DE and proceed with the job. I'm planning to switch after 1 year. If I go with the current DE tasks, will this help me in my switch? Pls comment down. Thank you
