Schocked seeing 12+ working hours and insane hustle culture.
So I recently joined Amazon, I read about its bad wlb and culture but I didnt expect it to be this bad. On my Day 1 itself I was schocked to see this fast paced hustle culture. It was overwhelming. My colleagues starts working in morning then work 9-10 hours in office and again work after going home plus they also work on weekends. They dont even have time to go for lunch or a tea break thats how bad it is. Although I am still learning as a new joinee but If I go out for a while they are like where were you gone for so long and they also feel like I should be working like them. Deadlines are insane and theres so much pressure to deliver. In my last company I had a pretty good wlb and this is a complete shift and its getting hard for me to cope up. The worst part is its so normalised and everyone here literally have no problem working this much.

Nowadays we as an employee also starts normalising saying things like wlb is bad because work pressure is more. Bro, we have to work hard everywhere in order to earn money. Consider a daily wage worker, he/she works day and night and in the end earns 400-500 in a day. Will he/she say that wlb is very bad here? I am also currently facing problems in working in this fast paced startup, but it's completely my problem if I am not able to meet deadlines. Start accepting the truth and try to work hard, wlb will automatically change for you when you starts to see results.
Unfair Comparison. If we wanted to be laborers we would have sat at Labour Chowk instead of getting college degrees. Corporate Majdoor and Majdoor are a little bit different for good or worse
