Schengen Visa Related
Hello Everyone,
I'm planning to travel to France under Short term Schengen Visa for Tourism during summer of 2026. I had some specific queries, if any of you faced these situations or know someone who did, please do help your fellow GViner here. Any kind of help is appreciated.

I understand that we have to show sufficient funds(liquid cash) So I have 2 questions here. First, what is the exact minimum amount of balance they expect to see and how many months bank statements do they check? Second, I don't like to keep my money on savings so I put some under my icici bank "linked account"(idk if this linked acc thing is ICICI-bank- specific but yeah if anyone knows pls help) Would that be considered in the minimum balance amount aa well ? Or strictly only "savings" ?

Does solo travel for the first time invite any visa rejections? If someone travelled solo across Europe recently please share your experience and what things to keep in mind during the visa application process?

I have a friend who lives in Paris. I was planning to stay at their place. So for that I'd need a sponsorship letter. But they live in a rented Accommodation and in the rental agreement it's mentioned that "overnight guest stay isnt allowed". So I'm worried that my visa might get rejected if I had to produce the rental agreement. Has anyone ever been in this situation? Or any ideas how I can sort this accomodation thing out?

Does Cover letter or any other such document get rejected if written by AI.

I'm planning to go without any travel agent or any kind of travel assistance as of now. Would there be any concerns handling it all by myself (considering it's my first time). Also, if y'all know any good/trusted travel agent, pls dm details.
Thanks in advance.

- 100 euros per day , keep more since ur single I have had friends visa rejected thrice , its just good to show more money
- Yes it gets rejected more often than u think it will
- Get a sponsorship letter but also just get a refundable stay booked via booking.com gives more weightage that you can afford the trip, I would frankly not stay with the friend it calls for unnecessary complications
- Write a simple one why you want to visit france , what will you be seeing , what are you looking forward to, a proper 5 day itinerary witn even hotel names addresses etc
- Yes you dont need an agent.

Thank you so much for your reply. So, in your friend's case you're saying solo travel was the sole reason for visa rejection? Any idea how it can be avoided or any tips?

I am assuming you have the vfs checklist for documents. Never went on a tourist visa, but on business Schengen on 5 different occasions for 5 different Schengen countries for a week or so everytime. I take my wife along on tourist visa. Never France though.
- If that linked acc shows up with your name and acc number without a third party dependency, you should be fine. 15-20k INR per day is what I consider a safe amount. More the better. Statement duration depends on country. If not mentioned, go with last 6mo with your salary account, where your salary is visible.
- Rejections are common in Schengen I wouldn’t lie. But if you can show enough proof of your Indian employment like bonafides etc., and a strong cover also letter detailing your plans, that goes in your favour.
- If rental agreement says that, you cannot slide past it afaik. Just see if you can get a free cancellation hotel or something booked for the stay. I always do that, never faced any issues.
- Make an effort to write by hand. You can get it cross checked by AI. Facts is what the embassy is interested in. Give them that.
- Just follow the checklists. Vfs will cross check your docs when you go for application. I never did any agent for collating my wife’s docs.

Thank you for patiently answering every query. So 20k per day in the sense, if my itinerary is not 5 days , I should ideally be having 1 Lac in my A/c right? (5* 20,000) And this amount excludes the currency that I need to carry? Or is it everything combined?
