Scam called AstroTalk - BYJUs 2.0

So finally, someone spoke about this fraudulent startup AstroTalk. How they operate and how they take advantage of gullible people, is completely explained in the video. These kinds of startups need to be busted on LinkedIn and other social media platforms so that no one calls prey for such cheap tactics. This is just another BYJUs in the making. The cofounder is an IIT IIM grad. Shows how greed can even pollute the minds of even highly educated people. Really don't understand how the VCs can be so fucking dumb, funding them with 165 Crores!! Shocking but it isn't surprising since the Indian Startup ecosystem is filled with such scam artists.

Jab tak hum jaise log IIM/IITians ki G chaat te rahenge tab tak ye hume chutiya banate rahenge. 4 din baad tum chutiye sab bhool jaoge fir kisi naye IIT/IIM led startup ko linkedin par praise karoge jab tak wo bubble itna bada na ho jaye ki use criticise kar pao…fir kisi anonymous platform par aajakr “OMG SO FUCKING DISGUSTING” bold doge kyuki linkedin par to tumhari gaand thandi ho jati hai kisi ko criticise karte hue…aur ye cycle bas chalta rahega…so moral of the story is, tum hi log chutiye ho wo nahi.

Well you've answered yourself right there!

VCs and other investors maybe do not care much about the product as long as it's profitable. The folks at Astotalk could have played the numbers games and showed that they are a profitable business.

Sometimes I feel Indians deserve it. Too much cricket, chasing iPhones n status, blowing 30-40L in wedding, and making a big show off it.

People match kundlis before marriage. won't even check medical reports for ST infections, health conditions or impotency/fertility issues. Won't even verify the salary payslips. But will discuss dowry n "muhurat".

Btw I'm talking about people who are well off and not the poor people whose everyday is a survival challenge.

FluffyDumpling
FluffyDumpling

It is the poor people majorly who spend like that on weddings. Those who are well off, 30-40L doesn't mean much to them. They are probably making that or much more than that every year. It's the stupid poor people who throw lavish weddings by taking loans just for show off.

If 40L loan applicants are poor people, what would you call minimum wage construction workers, vegetable sellers, truck drivers etc

Since the time they’ve raised funding, they’ve been throwing money on popular YTers for affiliate marketing and PR campaigns.

Even though, I’ve a YT premium account but I witness a lot of popular Auto vloggers, lifestyle vloggers and entertainment ones promoting AstroTalk app.

Haven’t seen this YT video but I could smell the scam with AstroTalk for quite some time.

Using vulnerability of a person to promote some hocus pocus and charging obnoxious money.

He was also approached for promoting the AstroTalk app as well, but he declined. Good on him for exposing this scam. Was thinking to make a LinkedIn post on it

Thanks mate. Would check out the video. Do make a LinkedIn post. It’s good that such scamming business models be exposed.

Don’t worry, even if astro talk fails you’ll soon find him acquiring the position of Head/VP of Products/Business/Marketing at some unicorn because that’s the kind of scammers sit at top level.

Also, the funny thing is, the astrologer who is giving out the Gyan is himself a UPSC aspirant and is doing this shit as a side gig. At the start of the call he says "apko pata nahi aap kisse baat kar rhe hain" and then proceeds to say that he is himself jobless and scamming people on Astro Talk😂😂

But how is astro talk a scam company. It's either astrology itself is a scam hence astro talk too is or astro talk is actually luring gullible people and making them spend money?

FluffyDumpling
FluffyDumpling

It's the first part. Taking advantage of people's desperation, of their precarious situation is definitely a fraud.

You think VC give a fcuk about the ethics of how a company makes money ? NEVER. If the business model works, makes money, they put in more money and push it hard, and also help clear off any legal BS by bending rules and buying them.

How and why do you think politicians have sooo many connections with big businessmen and they get funded to party in thousands of crores ?

As long as there are dumbfucks in this world (which they will be, bcz not every human has enough wisdom OR is able to analyse and process reality), there will always be such scammers.

SqueakyWalrus
SqueakyWalrus

Also, just bcz a person is from IIT/IIM or any such crapshit, it doesn't give them special powers/abilities to be above all. They just happen to have a better intellect and memory power than most of us.

But remember, there will also be people who are far more intellect and have better memory power while also maintaining good ethics, but never been to IIT or IIM or even had a formal education. They too will be running businesses that churn out profits, ethically or unethically, but far more silent.

Byju’s Hid $533 Million in Fund Run out of an IHOP outlet 🤯

Absolutely crazy stuff. To summarize what I read:

  1. Byju's apparently transferred $533Mn to Camshaft Capital - a random hedge fund in Miami that was started by a 23 year old, with barely any investing experience.
  2. This hedge fun...

What the fuck Astrotalk

Astrotalk has asked astrologers on its platforms to keep talking to customers for longer, paying them more if they talk for over 30 minutes...Astrologers are also being asked to suggest remedies to users to increase their income... Lmao ...
