Saying no to work on Notice Period.
I have been onboarded on project, and not been assigned to work for two week. After that I resigned and stopped opening my laptop. Now client messaged me ,when you are joining the work, I said I have resigned and would not take any responsibility of any new task during my notice period. He is saying you have been paid by client and you just can't run away like this. But I was firm on my statement that I would not take any responsibility during my notice period . Notice period is supposed to be handover the task you have assigned to new person. How do you people see this as?

You can do the bare minimum as you are getting paid. Completely shutting down the laptop is not a good way to exist tbh.

What do you mean by bare minimum, if I have been working in any ongoing things, that I should complete and handover gracefully. But I was not involved in anything and I can not take up new work or responsibility for 40 days left to be served in notice

If the work was not assigned to you for 2 weeks and you've resigned, you are not liable to take up any new task on your own.
You sure can help the new person, who ever will be taking your place (Since you are getting paid during your NP). Np is for transition of your ongoing /done work, not getting completely involved in any new work.

That's what I am saying, I have nothing to deliver,no KT, literally nothing. Client want me to start something now, but on notice there is no point to take responsibility

Isn't your manager not involved in this ?

I think if you're being paid a salary you should do the work. There is no title that you can only do handover tasks. However at the same time make it clear that taking up a new task means no time to handover. I did work on a very small task on the notice period which was completed in 20 days and I didn't see anything wrong in doing that.
That being said if you felt that you're not fairly treated during your stint you can ignore them and they can't do anything

I am asking them to release me early but they are forcing me to serve all notice.

Kar lunga kaam bhai.. itna kyu bhadak rahe sab

Do what is right for yourself people will always judge based on their own mindset. They see only what they want to see. Thereβs no issue for them when a company makes false promises, hires you for one role, and then suddenly puts you on an entirely different project at the last moment. But the impact falls on you, and it can make your work life miserable.
You are absolutely right from your side. Take your holidays, relax, and regain your strength. Let your performance and peace of mind show them that they made a mistake by shifting you into a role you never signed up for.
Wish you Best luck for future jobππ

In my case , they hired me for an xyz project , i joined and after 1 week they said project requirements are changed and you are no longer part of this project!! What to do now ...

See, and people are talking about ethics here π

Literally wage theft

If companies won't pay then it's not theft?

Njoy the life bro
Message to the client I want to work but due to my resignation I am unable to work please double the salary then I will think of taking my resignation back.

I am also on Notice period but for me the situation is very different I am alone working on a project I already completed 45 days of NP Manager did not arrange any backup for me, also they pulled me as a SME for another project from another account, I support them for 4 weeks when I told to manger that I am doing back off from another project everyone of that account including CP and DP requesting to work on both project because the condition is very difficult in both the projects I am alone having complete understanding. I am in a very difficult situation People do not work more in NP but here they are forcing me to work more

You can simply deny to take more load, as in notice period people usually focused on their interviews and all. I think nothing wrong in it, ultimately you have to choose you

It's not your responsibility to decide what you want to do. If they have your replacement then by all means focus on handover, but if nobody has been assigned then just keep on doing your tasks normally. Notice period doesn't mean that you are completely out of the company.
As a matter of fact they aren't wrong, if you're being paid then work, even if in limited capacity. You're still drawing salary in notice period as well.
