I've never used anything else other than Product Manager as a title even though I was a PM and became a senior PM. People are using Product leader, Product Evangelist, Product Enthusiast and more irrelevant s*it. Do recruiters even care?!!

I believe it's to increase their network and hence their reach when recruiters are scouting. It's likely that it improves their profile discoverability.
