Samsung layoff with one year salary.

One of my friend working in Samsung told me that an enployee in Samsung having package of 80LPA. Samsung asked him either agreed on a pkg of 40LPA or take 1 cr and put the paper. He put down the paper and get 1 Cr. After 2 months he joined some other company. What are your views on this
