You're underpaid. Grossly. Can be 2.5x of this.

Look at working for an org that has its core on Mainframes - Global Bank GCC.

Also build parallel skills. But you may not need to switch into the next big thing.

Mainframes are here for another couple of decades (or more) and skills are getting rare.

Get out of mainframe ASAP. I've friends who are now into cloud devops and ETL. They've been able to multiply their salary and have more exit opportunities in the market.

Thank you for the suggestion.. I am also trying to get out of it now... I have in my mind cloud would be an option. Or totally change to Gen AI.. Any idea.. Which one would be better...

You won't be able to get into gen AI without knowing the basics of Data Science, so you'll have to start from there first. Cloud devops is easier to get into but if you do get into AI/ML, then your pay will be better.
