Salary Deducted - City Allowance Retro

I recently got transferred from Mumbai to Chennai. I'm with 1.5 YOE and my first company is TCS, so you know the grade. There were WFO exceptions involved in the first and second quarter of last year since I had undergone surgery. There have been a few times I missed raising exceptions for one or two days delay, branch holiday mismatch, etc. But my WFO is always above 95% in all quarters, some 100% even. And I clock in at least 7 hrs minimum. I go at 9 and leave at 6:45 only to commute close to 5 hrs everyday, a few days due to health concerns I've left at 4. They have deducted close to 5K stating City Allowance Retro and I don't understand. I'm scared to even ask about it. Is this fair? They would just give empty reasons if I raise a ticket or have there been any cases of fixing in case of an error? Please help, it's a huge amount for a fresher like me, we are already paid peanuts.

Raise a ticket under payroll and put this question there. They will reply to you with the reason why it was deducted. As per my knowledge, city allowance is different for every city and it's probably the highest for Mumbai. Maybe that's why they deducted whatever excess was paid to you after you moved to Chennai. You will now receive city allowance as per Chennai. Anyway, raise a ticket so they can confirm

Once your depute locations gets changed, there are changes in city allowance. If you have received your payroll with the old city allowance and as per the new location, so next payroll they will credit new city allowance and deduct the difference
