Sad state of resumes
Hiring for a couple of roles, and sorry to see the state of resumes. We are living in the best time of Internet, how come they are not being utilised? So many free websites, blogs, videos
Major points that should be followed
- Stick to 1-page resume - yes you are very hard working, you love yourself a lot, but still 1 page. If you have to add another page, add projects that support your cause but cannot make/break the deal
- No pictures please, if you aren’t applying for modelling acting roles, please don’t
- No age, DOB or full address - Apart from unnecessary, they are potential security breaches. Phone number and city are enough
- Alignment - Too much white space is just breaking your game; utilise features in Microsoft Docs/Google doc
- Pointers - Don't write stories. Many resumes wrote, "I like to talk about.."

1 pagers don't work for senior people who have worked for multiple companies and in multiple domains over the years

I just dont understand why anyone would add their pictures in their resume if applying for the tech roles ffs.

1 page resume sucks. I don't understand why people are so much into it.
I have never seen a good readable 1 page resume, what's the use of 1 page resume when people just cram everything in it. Use 2 page if it helps with the readability.
I guess a 2-page resume would also be fine. If, via referrals, we're applying, then there is not much to talk about in the interview. One pager will do!
But to make a point on non-referrals, it has to have two pages, but no crap like "me hockey ka bhot bada khiladi tha", etc. It should contain data that supports your JD and skillset. And it should be to the point; stick to the basics.
And in my experience, try not to get it reviewed by more than one person, because everyone in this world has their own opinion on resumes as to why this is wrong and how you can improve.

What do you think about half page resume?

no please, add some projects.

Is adding a picture that detrimental/negative?
P.S: I have a one pager resume (<5 yoe) and I believe it is properly formatted while not missing out on any relevant details.
Do people really care about all the things that are there in the resume?

For someone who is hiring, they glance through the keywords. So important to add industry terms and tools
Picture no no, if you are not an actor /model or profession that needs your face.

15 yoe worked in 5 companies to fit in 1 page. Challenging but need to give it a shot

I disagree with the ‘stick to 1 page advice’. Expanding to 2 pages is fine if you have 5+ yoe and have relevant things to share
