Roadmap to transition from a Performance Tester to SDET

My friend is a Performance tester in a Saas Company he wants to transition from performance to full stack SDET . He says he wants to work on both the functional and non functional aspect of testing . What should be the roadmap as i dont have much idea about testing .. TIA
