
Not returning joining bonus
Let’s say I leave a company after 2 months. What would happen if I don’t return their joining bonus.
They have a clause in offer letter that says I should return the amount if I leave before a year.

I’ve left a MNC as sde-1 before completing one year, sign on bonus clause says that I’ve to return 100% if I leave before completing one year.
Sign on bonus in my case is 6.5 lakhs. Want to know if people usually return the amount? What are the consequences if not returned?
Don’t bring it up and see if they let it go . You can generically ask if there anything pending from my side that I need to complete before leaving . If they bring it up , then it is a grey area . If it’s in your contract you have signed , then they can threaten you legally . It’s kind of a nuisance for you if this happens . I would act in good faith and return this amount . Seeing that you are in Uber should not be a big amount for you 😅 . Background checks they may give a negative review for you so I would ask to resolve it amicably with them .

Trying to access what paths typically a company takes when an employee doesn’t return joining bonus after they resign within one year of joining. What are some some worst cases? Can they do a court cases? What happens in those scenarios....
