Retention in TCS

I’m working on a Java support project but upskilled in Azure Data Engineering. I’ve got an external offer for a Data Engineer role with a 50% hike. My current project ends March 31st, and my last working day (LWD) is April 30th.

Since I’ll be on the bench/RMG for my final month, is there any chance the company will try to retain me for a Data Engineer role? Or do they usually just let people go once they are unallocated?

Why you upskilled in Microsoft considering working in JAVA unless you want to shift

Yes, the goal was specifically to shift into the Data domain. While I have a Java background, I find Data Engineering more aligned with my career goals. My question is more about whether the company values this new skill set enough to offer an internal pivot, or if they prefer to let that talent go

Totally depends on their needs. But honestly way things are its best to jump elsewhere.

It all depends on your project only if project have dependency on you then they will retain you even you don't have any new skills otherwise they won't retain
